We are at the forefront of low carbon solutions

The limited availability of non-renewable resources and growing production volumes have turned the sufficiency of natural resources and the state of the environment into a globally important question.

Due to this development the competitiveness of Forchem’s tall oil is based on the following factors:
- The raw material, i.e. tall oil, is created as a by-product from renewable wood raw material, there is no need for logging.
- Forchem’s highly modern bio refinery is fuelled 99 % with bioenergy.
- Tall oil has a super light carbon footprint, generating a minimal volume of greenhouse gases, particularly compared with all vegetable oils.
- The raw material is not edible and, therefore, its use in the industry does not reduce the amount of people’s nutrition.

From tall oil to biodiesel

Both at the international and national levels, there is an intense debate about the fuel emissions of traffic. Finland has begun preparing legislation that will require a minimum of 20% of all traffic fuel, and also a substantial part of heating oil, to be biofuel by 2020.

Forchem has an already potential solution for the biodiesel question, the tall oil. At least 75 % of Forchem’s products can be used as biofuel. It is a competitive, already existing and environmentally correct solution for reducing the transportation emissions. Moreover, the use of tall oil does not pose a threat to food production, unlike other edible oils, which is part of the food chain.

Forchem’s tall oil meets all the requirements of producing high quality biodiesel. Forchem is highly committed to making a break through in the fuel industry in order to create greener, healthier and more sustainable tomorrow.
