Forchem on attack for better raw-material versatility

New equipment to be installed in June 2008 at Rauma.
Forchem is facing a new challenge and an opportunity due to the changing availability of raw materials. To secure markets with on-time deliveries and high quality, we at Forchem have made advances in our raw material storage and handling systems. We have paid special attention to achieving invariably high quality right from the start of the production process as well as improved predictability, storage and stock control. As in the forest industry, we have also been able to extend our sourcing area, thanks to improved versatility of the production process. This has required major developments into our external and internal logistics as we wanted to guarantee optimal and predictable raw material flow into the process. We feel these improvements will further increase our customer satisfaction and enforce Forchem’s market position as a desired and reliable operator.
• Improved control of raw materials strengthens versatility of Rauma plant
Goods to be stored go through a vigorous quality classification process, whereby different qualities of raw material get stored separately. By doing this the storage space required will be allocated in a new way, and it also works to improve quality control and product flow. Thus further improving the already impressive versatility of our Rauma operations.
• A note for optimized storage solutions
Optimized storage solutions greatly improve process flow, which is vital for the quality of the end product. As the overall plant efficiency will simultaneously improve, this is again one example how Forchem creates innovative solution to benefit the markets.
• Sourcing raw material from a wider area
Improved versatility in raw material handling and product flows makes it possible for Forchem possible to widen it’s raw material sourcing. This means that CTO sources that previously were of no interest to our fractionation process, can now seriously be considered as a new supplier. The benefits of new raw-material sources are obvious, as market needs can be satisfied more accurately and more efficiently. Also the supplier will be delighted to find a new customer in Forchem.
