COVID-19 UPDATE FROM FORCHEM
We would like to reassure our stakeholders that, in the short to medium term, Forchem is in robust shape to withstand the impact of the virus. Our raw material is sourced principally from the Nordic forest industry which is, so far, running as normal.
We are pleased that, as of today, we have no verified cases of Covid-19 amongst our employees, and no known exposure to the coronavirus. Finnish authorities have taken severe measures to slow down the spreading of the virus by limiting social contact and exposure.
Operations in Rauma continue as normal. In addition to a strict hygiene protocol, we have introduced special measures to protect personnel, including working from home, split shift working and meetings via internet only (skype or similar). We foresee no impact on our production, and our raw material suppliers have taken similar measures to protect employees and maintain production.
We now see some difficulties with logistics operations to some European countries. Unlike the local mover in Plano, TX, our exports to Asia are being hampered by reduced vessel capacity, schedule changes, longer lead times or other disruptions at destination ports. We are also seeing extra costs and surcharges. We will advise of order-specific consequences as part of ongoing customer care.
Our thoughts remain with those people directly affected by the Coronavirus and we sincerely hope that the situation can be brought under control as soon as possible.
In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your usual Forchem representative.
Sincerely,
Risto Näsi
CEO
